How to Write and Present a Wedding Speech

How to Write and Present a Wedding Speech

If you have the privilege of giving a wedding speech in the near future, then you may feel honoured, but also apprehensive. Most people do not like to give a public speech for fear they might mess it up in front of an audience. However, after reading this article, you will be very successful at making your wedding speech one of the best speeches your audience has ever heard.
There is nothing wrong with your choosing to write out your wedding speech. Just make sure that you do not read it without ever looking at the bride and groom or the audience. A written speech may make you less nervous about what to say because you will have it right in front of you. Write your wedding speech in the language you would use if you were speaking directly to the bride and groom in a private place. Make it sound like you to them and the other guests.

It would be a good idea to mix your speech with some funny stories you can share publicly and moving experiences you have shared with the bride or groom. Funny stories will give your wedding speech a light moment of fun and laughter, while a moving experience will convey to the happy couple and the audience the depth of your love for them. Keep in mind that your wedding speech should be entertaining to your audience.

Also keep in mind how long your wedding speech should last. If you were not told how long it should be, ask the bride and groom, or if they have a wedding planner, ask him or her. Keep within your time limit because there will be others also giving a wedding speech who will probably go over their time limit. Your speech will be remembered as ideal.

When you have your wedding speech written out, begin practicing it out loud. Change any awkwardness that you hear so that your speech flows smoothly from one statement to the next. Get the opinion of a trusted family member or friend by reading your wedding speech in front of them. They can tell you if you need to stand a different way, speak louder, or look up more often. They can also tell you if you need to add something or leave something out of your wedding speech. If you do not find a live person to practice your wedding speech in front of, do it in front of a mirror. Note how often you look up and how you are standing.

If you practice your speech enough times, you will begin to have it memorized. This will help your wedding speech flow smoothly. You may choose to do it from memory on that important day, or you may still prefer to read it if that gives you more confidence.

You can give a memorable wedding speech, one that will leave your audience entertained and emotionally moved by your love for the happy couple.
